The Faculty of Political Science at Thammasat University is renowned for its professional expertise and effective approach to teaching and learning management, consistently upholding the highest academic standards. Since its establishment in 1949, the Faculty has continuously developed a curriculum that addresses the evolving needs of society in each era, particularly in light of the complexities posed by today’s global dynamics.
Currently, the Faculty offers six degree programs, fundamentally divided into three groups, each with distinct teaching and learning approaches:
Regular Programs (in Thai)
- Bachelor of Political Science (Rangsit Campus)
This long-standing program aim to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and cultivates a global perspective through political science knowledge. Graduates of this program have become vital contributors to society across various professions.
- Master of Political Science (Tha Prachan)
This is a full-time program spanning at least two years, with three majors: Government, International Affairs and Diplomacy, and Public Administration. The emphasis is placed on developing professionals with strong analytical abilities, adaptability, and independent research skills.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Political Science) (Tha Prachan)
This is a full-time program admitting no more than five students annually. Its primary goal is to cultivate scholars and researchers in political science, fostering expertise in specialized fields and groundbreaking research.
International Programs
- Bachelor of Political Science (Politics and International Relations) (BIR) (Tha Prachan)
The BIR Program aims to prepares student for success on the international stage. This vibrant program is designed to equip students with a deep understanding of international relations. Its rigorous courses are taught by both Thai and international experts.
- Master of Political Science (International Relations) (MIR) (Tha Prachan)
The MIR Program is Thailand’s first international studies program taught in English. The focus is on helping students develop concepts, theoretical perspectives, analytical frameworks, and research skills. Its courses are on Saturday and Sunday.
Executive Programs (in Thai)
- Master of Political Science (Public Administration and Public Affairs) (EPA) (Tha Prachan)
The EPA program holds classes on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Each student is expected to take up to two years. This program seeks to empower professionals to navigate rapid transformations, combining practical applications with theoretical understanding.
- Master of Political Science (Politics and Management) (MPE) (Rangsit Campus)
This is a weekend-based program designed for completion in about two years. It provides insights into contemporary changes and enhances students’ thinking and management skills related to politics and administration in the public sector.
