The Faculty of Political Science at Thammasat University has consistently made academic contributions through the dedicated efforts of faculty members and researchers. In recognition of this commitment, the Direk Jayanama Research Center was established in 2011. This center serves as a crucial platform for advancing research and laying the groundwork for credible policy recommendations that can positively impact society. Importantly, the center aligns seamlessly with Thammasat University’s vision of becoming a leading research institution at the international level.
Although the center has been established for more than a decade, emerging issues in the world pose grave challenges to Thailand. These include the influence of artificial intelligence, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of blockchain technology that challenges state sovereignty, climate change, the promotion of sustainable development, and geopolitical conflicts that destabilize peace. The Direk Jayanama Research Center is obligated to present information and knowledge that can explain issues, solve problems, and offer constructive policy options for Thai society amidst rapidly changing circumstances.
To become an integral part of Thailand’s political science research, the Direk Jayanama Research Center is strongly committed to supporting all research objectives and activities of the Faculty of Political Science’s academic staff. Our strategic goal is to strengthen a well-rounded research infrastructure that consistently supports the Faculty’s researchers. Our activities include providing research grants without restrictions on theme or topic, publishing research monographs, organizing seminars for all researchers, and disseminating research findings through video clips and podcasts.
Moreover, to encourage publications and knowledge exchange at the international level, the Direk Jayanama Research Center offers additional grants for those publishing in top journals within their respective fields. The Center also emphasizes the importance of building academic networks both nationally and internationally, creating more opportunities for the Faculty of Political Science community. To translate knowledge into practice and disseminate research findings, the Center designs short courses open to the Thai public. These courses apply research insights from our leading experts and make them accessible to those interested.
